Description

The balsam fir tree specie is native to North America, a conifer in the Pinaceae family. Balsam fir's young shoots taste their best when harvested in spring when they are tender, and then dried for later use. 

What do balsam fir shoots taste like?

The wild herb is distinguished by its delicately sweet and fruity fir notes, without any bitterness. Its complex aroma palette evokes confectionery and even the sweetness of cotton candy, but with a distinctive woody touch.

Here are some ways to use them:

Infusion: For a soothing herbal tea, add about one tablespoon of dried balsam fir shoots to a cup of hot water. Let it steep for 5 to 10 minutes, then strain and drink. This infusion is ideal for boosting the immune system, soothing the throat, and promoting relaxation.

Decoction: To extract more properties, you can boil the balsam fir shoots in water for 10 to 15 minutes. Once strained, this decoction is often used for its purifying benefits and its toning effect on the body.
