What is Mallow Flower?

The wild mallow, also called French Hollyhock, is a pretty and very interesting flower. It can add a subtle and refined touch in a variety of culinary preparations, to savory dishes such as sauces and marinades. This plant is also used to infuse herbal teas, as well as to flavour desserts and sweet dishes.

What Does Wild Mallow Taste Like?

Wild mallow is a plant that offers a subtly sweet and floral aroma, reminiscent of wild herbs. Its flavour is sweet, delicate and vegetal, with hints of honey.

Dried mallow flowers can be used in various ways to enjoy their benefits and sweetness.

Infusion: The most common method is to prepare an herbal tea. Add about one tablespoon of dried mallow flowers to a cup of hot water. Let it steep for 5 to 10 minutes, then strain and enjoy. This infusion is often used to soothe the throat and support the respiratory system.

Decoction: To make a more concentrated infusion, you can boil the mallow flowers in water for 10 to 15 minutes, then strain and drink. This helps extract more mucilaginous properties beneficial for the mucous membranes.

Incorporation into herbal tea blends: Dried flowers can be added to other herbs, such as chamomile, mint, or lavender, to enhance both the benefits and flavors of your blends.
